ARIVO
- Name: ARIVO – Austrian Research Infrastructure for VOcabulary
- Category/purpose: Provision of a terminology service for editing and publishing research vocabularies. A terminology service is essential for FAIR data management and forms the basis for the interoperability of data and services, such as catalogue systems.
- Description: The ARIVO Terminology Service provides a common framework for managing and integrating semantic resources such as taxonomies, vocabularies and ontologies. It bridges existing gaps between independently developed terminology systems by enabling user-centred interaction, the integration of existing vocabularies and the explicit description of their relationships (mapping). This supports transparent information lifecycles and sustainable data interoperability. After the pilot phase, the service is to be integrated as ARI&S Shared Service and provide a long-term registry software framework with clearly defined governance and maintenance models for federated systems.
- Target group: researchers, data stewards, data managers, content curators

- Origin/development: The ARIVO concept is based on OS tools that require joint development and maintenance. The aim is to establish close links with existing services provided by the NFDI – National Research Data Infrastructure.
